GST verification API

Confirm any GSTIN is valid, registered, and actively filing — with legal name, address, GSTR filing history, and e-invoicing status returned in a single real-time API call.

How GSTIN verification works

1. Send the GSTIN

Call GET /api/get-taxpayer-info/{gstin} with your API key in the x-api-key header.

2. Query live GST records

The API checks the GSTIN against live government records, not a cached or third-party copy.

3. Get a structured result

A JSON response returns legal name, status, address, filing history, and e-invoicing status — in one call.

Understanding GSTIN status

Every verification result includes a status field. Here's what each value means in practice:

Active

The GSTIN is currently registered and in good standing.

Cancelled

GST registration has been cancelled — the business should not be treated as compliant.

Suspended

Registration is temporarily suspended, often pending a compliance review.

GSTIN verification — common questions

Yes. GSTIN API is a GST verification API: send a GSTIN to GET /api/get-taxpayer-info/{gstin} with your API key and get back legal name, trade name, address, registration status, GSTR filing history and e-invoicing status as JSON, checked against live government records.
Every account gets 20 free verification credits after email verification, with no credit card. After that it is pay-as-you-go at ₹0.50 per verification, or ₹0.40 once a purchase crosses 2,500 credits. Calls that fail GSTIN format or check-digit validation are never charged.
GSTIN verification is the process of confirming that a GST Identification Number is valid, currently registered, and checking its associated taxpayer details — legal name, address, and filing status — against official GST records.
You can search a GSTIN manually on the GST portal, or verify it programmatically via a GSTIN verification API, which returns the same registration and status data as structured JSON for use in your own systems.
GSTIN status reflects whether the registration is Active, Cancelled, or Suspended. Only an Active GSTIN represents a currently compliant, operating GST registration.
An unverified GSTIN could belong to a cancelled or suspended registration, which affects your ability to claim input tax credit and signals the counterparty may not be compliant. Verifying upfront avoids this risk.
Yes. GSTIN API supports calling the same verification endpoint across a list of GSTINs — from a vendor master or customer list — with credit pricing that drops automatically past 2,500 credits.
