GST API

GSTIN API is a GST API that returns real-time GSTIN verification, taxpayer details, GSTR filing history, and e-invoicing status from live GST records — built for developers integrating GST checks into their own products, not for manual lookups on the GST portal.

What a GST API does

Every GST-registered business in India has a GSTIN. A GST API lets your software query that GSTIN against live government records and get back the same information a person would find by searching the GST portal manually — legal name, registration status, address, filing history, and e-invoicing status — as structured JSON, in one request.

GSTIN API responds in under 500ms on average, so a GST API call fits inline in a checkout, signup, or invoicing flow — not just a background batch job. See every field the API returns.

Where a GST API gets used

Checkout & onboarding

Verify a business GSTIN in real time during vendor or customer onboarding, before it enters your system.

Vendor & B2B verification

Confirm a vendor is genuinely registered and actively filing before adding them to your accounts payable system.

Lending & KYC

Use GST registration and filing status as a business-KYC signal alongside PAN and address checks.

Invoicing & compliance

Validate a GSTIN before issuing an invoice, and check e-invoicing status so filings don’t bounce later.

GST API pricing and access

GST API access starts free: verify your email and get 20 credits automatically, enough to test real GSTIN lookups before committing to anything. After that, it’s pay-as-you-go — ₹0.50 per verification, dropping to ₹0.40 once you cross 2,500 credits. No subscription, no minimum spend. See the full pricing breakdown.

GST API questions

A GST API is a REST API that lets software check a business’s GST registration details — status, legal name, address, filing history, and e-invoicing status — programmatically, instead of a person looking it up on the GST portal by hand.
Create a free GSTIN API account and verify your email — you get 20 free verification credits automatically, enough to test the API against real GSTINs before paying anything.
GSTIN API gives every account 20 free verification credits after email verification. Beyond that it is pay-as-you-go from ₹0.50 per verification, with no subscription or minimum spend — there is no unlimited free tier, but there is no fixed cost either.
₹0.50 per GSTIN verification for purchases under 2,500 credits, and ₹0.40 per verification once a purchase crosses 2,500 credits. There is no setup fee, monthly fee or GSP licence cost, and requests that fail format or check-digit validation, or that fail because the government source is down, are not charged.
For GSTIN verification there is nothing to activate on the GST portal: sign up, verify your email and generate an API key — the first call usually works within five minutes. The “Manage API Access” switch in a taxpayer’s GST portal profile is a different thing: it lets a GSP file returns or generate e-invoices on that taxpayer’s behalf, and is not needed to look up a GSTIN.
The GST portal is built for a person to search one GSTIN at a time through a browser. A GST API returns the same underlying data as structured JSON over HTTP, so it can be called from your own application, at any volume, without manual lookups.
A single call typically returns legal name, trade name, registered address, constitution of business, registration date, current GSTIN status, GSTR-1/GSTR-3B filing history, and e-invoicing / e-way bill status.
