Add-on Terms of Use
Last updated: October 19, 2026
These terms cover the GSTIN Verifier for Google Sheets add-on. They are additional to the GSTIN API Terms of Service, which govern your account, your credits and the underlying verification service. Installing or using the add-on means you accept both. Where the two conflict on a matter specific to the add-on, this page prevails.
1. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the add-on in Google Sheets for your own business or that of your employer or clients. You may not decompile it, republish it under another name, or distribute a modified copy. Nothing here transfers ownership of the add-on or of the data it returns.
2. Accounts and credits
The offline features — every GSTIN_* formula and the Validate button — are free, require no
account, and carry no usage limit. The Verify feature draws on the credit balance of the gstinapi.com account
whose API key is stored in the sidebar.
- One credit is consumed per lookup that resolves to a registration.
- A number that fails the offline checks is never sent and is never charged.
- A well-formed number with no registration behind it is a valid answer and is not charged.
- A run stops when the balance is exhausted; rows already written remain charged and correct.
You are responsible for keeping your API key confidential and for all usage against it. If a key is exposed, revoke it in your dashboard — that immediately invalidates the copy held by the add-on.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the add-on to:
- Circumvent per-run limits by automating or scripting the sidebar, or by any other means.
- Build or publish a competing bulk-verification product from the data returned.
- Scrape, resell or systematically redistribute the government register data in bulk.
- Verify numbers for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that infringes anyone's rights.
Verifying your own suppliers, customers, vendors or counterparties — in whatever volume your business genuinely requires — is exactly what the add-on is for and is not restricted by the above.
4. Accuracy of results
Verification results originate from the government's GST register. We pass them through faithfully but do not warrant that the register itself is complete, current or free of error, and there can be a lag between a change in a taxpayer's status and its appearance there.
One point is worth stating plainly because it is widely misunderstood: a structurally valid GSTIN is not proof of a real registration. The check-digit algorithm is public, so an invented number will often pass the offline test. Treat the offline pass as typo detection, and only a successful register lookup as evidence that a registration exists. Results are informational and are not a substitute for your own compliance judgement or professional advice.
5. Availability
The add-on depends on Google Sheets, on Google Apps Script and on the government data source, none of which we operate. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability and may change, suspend or withdraw features. Where a change removes a documented feature, we will note it on the add-on support page and in the Marketplace listing.
6. Liability
The add-on is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of it. Our total aggregate liability in connection with the add-on is limited to the amount you paid us for credits in the three months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
7. Termination
You may stop using the add-on at any time by uninstalling it, which also deletes the API key it stored — see the add-on privacy policy for what that does and does not remove. We may suspend or terminate access where these terms are breached, where usage threatens the stability of the service, or where required by law. Unused credits are handled under the main terms of service.
8. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be notified to account holders by email. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. Questions go to contact@gstinapi.com .
